We fight biased, inaccurate, or inappropriate instructional content and discriminatory speech in the classroom. Our goal is to ensure that the classroom remains balanced, neutral, and academic. Learn more about the Complaint Process.

California Education Codes and state law combine to govern classroom transparency. All public school classroom materials are public records and can be requested by any taxpayer, including parents, students, and the community. The state consistently broadly applies transparency regulations to allow access to student’s educational materials.

For School Districts:

Recent amendments to the California Education Code, including the enactment of Assembly Bill 715, have significant and practical implications for California public schools. These statutory changes clarify and expand schools’ obligations with respect to student safety, nondiscrimination, and the prevention of harassment.

UCP Investigations

When a district receives allegations of misconduct or other complaints, we conduct objective, high-quality investigations that are timely, fair, and cost-effective.

We work with clients to establish an investigation plan, interview witnesses, and gather relevant evidence. Our process results in clear, comprehensive findings, and we support district leadership and governing boards as needed with follow-up actions, decision-making, and appeals.
